Cartoonist and designer A.E. Sabo

OFF THE PACE The Horse Racing Cartoon was created in 2009 by A.E. Sabo after observing a lacking presence of horse racing in popular comics. Wasn’t it time for horse racing to have its own comic? One with returning characters, a continuous story-line and that could entertain the hard core racing enthusiast as well as the occasional racing fan?

By 2011, TEAM DIVA could be seen on the websites of turf-writers, handicappers and fan blogs nationwide. The duo made a major leap to the international stage in 2012 by appearing regularly in the international racing publication GALLOP MAGAZINE. It had been read in 18 different countries and translated into both Swedish and Turkish.

The A.E. SABO STUDIO opened its official headquarters near Tampa Bay Downs in May of 2015 and currently has moonlighting hubs in both Lexington and Ocala. The studio is at work producing OFF THE PACE, editorial pieces, charitable commissions and commercial works for the industry that includes AMERICA’S BEST RACING, THE JOCKEY CLUB, JOCKEYS AND JEANS for the PDJF, RTCA (National, FL, KY & NY), GRAND SLAM SOCIAL, PM ADVERTISING and more!

In a previous life as full-time graphic designer, A.E. created identity and branding for suppliers in the promotional products industry, informational materials for government agencies, educational materials for Florida county school systems, and collateral materials for reputable ad agencies. Her client projects included 7-Dippity Inc., Compass/Maglite, Dixon Ticonderoga, Evans Manufacturing, Fresh Beginnings Baked Goods, Graphic Arts Books, Helbros Watches, Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation, Florida Trail Association, Maple Ridge Farms, National Foundation of Debt Management, Norwegian Cruise Line, Nursefinders, Reese Brothers, Talyor Grant, LLC, True Value Hardware and illustrations for books printed by both WIELY and PINEAPPLE PRESS.

A.E. is a member in good standing of the NATIONAL CARTOONISTS SOCIETY and has served as both Treasurer and Vice Chair of its Florida Chapter.
